On June 27th, the White House announced its presidential nominations in a press release which included current USCIS Director, Alejandro Mayorkas, being nominated for the position of Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. The previous Deputy Secretary, Jane Holl Lute, has resigned from her position. The nominations have been sent to the Senate and will be considered by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security. IIUSA congratulates the Director and will be closely monitoring the process for nominating the new USCIS Director.
