Following Settlement With USCIS, IIUSA Sets a New Course for the EB-5 Community
MILWAUKEE, WI – September 13, 2022 – Recently, Invest in the USA (IIUSA) and six regional centers settled their lawsuit with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. The settlement assures EB-5 program integrity, protection for investors, and regional centers’ ability to continue supporting U.S. economic development and job creation. In the wake of the settlement, IIUSA, the EB-5 community’s trade organization, convened its Leadership Circle in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to forge a new path for its members and the EB-5 community.
IIUSA Executive Director Aaron Grau stated, “The EB-5 community earned the privilege to continue its excellent work without worrying about deauthorization for almost 5 years. IIUSA led the way and now it is the time to build on that success and grow the EB-5 Program’s positive impact on the U.S. economy even further.”
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson kicked off the two-day summit. In his welcoming remarks, he emphasized the importance of EB-5 in Milwaukee and how other communities would benefit from the program as well. The mayor said, “We are not a rust-belt city. Our city is fresh, vibrant, and new, and EB-5 investments play a critical role in making that happen. EB-5 boosted Milwaukee’s economic development and job creation, and we hope it will continue to do so!”
IIUSA leadership set the stage for new initiatives to support investors, share data, engage Capitol Hill and the administration, and reach out to new types of members. IIUSA Board Chairman Bob Kraft punctuated the event by saying, “The future is bright. We have stability. We have renewed strength. We have a mandate for integrity, and we plan to use all of it to do what Congress intended for EB-5 programming: create jobs and grow the U.S. economy. The new law marks the end of an old era and the beginning of a new one. IIUSA will continue to lead the way.”
