Recapping the 2024 EB-5 Industry Forum

The 2024 IIUSA EB-5 Industry Forum wrapped up last week. The event connected 300+ of the leading EB-5 professionals, international stakeholders, and more than a few new market entrants for three days of networking, business development, and professional development.

This year’s event was heralded as one of, if not the best the association has ever hosted and solidified IIUSA’s position as the industry leader in all things EB-5.

The event’s success was the result of the support of our 40+ sponsors and dedicated commitment of our expert speakers. A special thank you is owed to NYSA EB-5, our Host City Sponsor, as well as Peachtree Group who hosted a special event at the Atlanta History Center.

Please find a recap of the event’s key highlights and helpful resources below.

KEY RESOURCES & CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Attendees Hear a Special Presentation from the Department of State

We were honored to welcome Dr. Michael Hanley from the U.S. Department of State for a special presentation during the event. Dr. Hanley shared the latest data on EB-5 visa availability and waitlists with the audience, as well as important updates on EB-5 visa processing and his predictions on future movements of the Visa Bulletin.

In particular, according to Dr. Hanley, the State Department is confident that all available visa numbers under the Unreserved category will be used in FY2024 for backlog reduction, and set-aside EB-5 visas will start to be issued in the coming months. IIUSA is working with Dr. Hanley for an in-depth analysis of the data and visa processing. Stay tuned for more information.

IIUSA Elects New Board Members

Before the conference commenced, the association held its 19th Annual Membership Meeting. The main agenda item for the meeting was the Board of Directors elections. All three Officers positions were up for election, and all three were duly re-elected.

There were five open Directors seats in this year’s election and we are pleased to recognize four new board members Rush Deacon (Pine State Regional Center), John Pratt (Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli & Pratt), Darrell Sanders (American Life) and Christian Triantaphyllis (Jackson Walker) as well as the re-election Christine Chen (CanAm Enterprises).

IIUSA International Market Development Efforts Pay Dividends

With the ongoing success of the IIUSA EB-5 Passport Series, it is perhaps no surprise that we saw significant growth in our international attendance for this year’s event.

We were also honored to see participation from migration consultants from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, South Africa, Nigeria, and elsewhere, further demonstrating not only the association’s global reach but also the growth and diversification of the industry.

IIUSA Welcomes New Members from Across the Industry

The 14th Annual IIUSA EB-5 Industry Forum began with a lively New Member Welcome Social, highlighted by appearances from IIUSA Board President, Bill Gresser, Executive Director, Aaron Grau, and dedicated representatives from IIUSA’s established members, including several active members of the Membership & Investor Markets Committee. Their presence emphasized IIUSA’s commitment to integrating new members into the EB-5 community.

Over the past year, IIUSA has welcomed 60 new members to the association! 38 of these new members utilized a complimentary new member ticket in Atlanta. We encourage you to join IIUSA and receive a complimentary ticket to one of our events, opening doors to invaluable resources and community connections in the EB-5 industry.

Houston Announced as 2025 EB-5 Industry Forum Destination

While the IIUSA team is taking a short break from events, we have already booked our 2025 venue! We look forward to welcoming the industry to the recently completed Thompson Hotel in Houston, TX April 28-30. The venue was not only a successful EB-5 project, but also the most recent successful project from our 2025 Host City Sponsor – Houston EB-5.
