On May 22nd, the Center for Real Estate Finance Research at New York University’s Stern School of Business published a final version of a study titled, “A Roadmap to the Use of EB-5 Capital: An Alternative Financing Tool for Commercial Real Estate Projects.” The final version includes an appendices showing a sample EB-5 mezzanine loan structure and terms and a select database of large-scale Regional Center projects.
Researched and written by professor Jeanne Calderon and Gary Freidland, yhe paper is divided into two sections. The first section provides background on the EB- 5 immigration process. The second section explains the key features of EB-5 capital and its role in current projects.
In March, the NYU Stern Center for Real Estate Finance Research hosted a one-day event to discuss the findings from the EB-5 study. IIUSA Executive Director Peter D. Joseph, along with several members, were featured speakers on the EB-5 discussion panel.
