Bill Introduced to Help Ease USCIS Case Backlog

On February 26, 2020, H.R. 5971 the Case Backlog and Transparency Act of 2020, was introduced by Representatives Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) and Steve Stivers (R-OH). The bill aims to amend the Immigration Services and Infrastructure Improvements Act of 2000 to provide for additional rules regarding the processing of immigration applications, and for other purposes.

The bill does not specifically address EB-5 processing delays but does address the severe USCIS processing delays currently being experienced by most visa categories. The bill would establish new USCIS and Government Accountability Office (GAO) reporting requirements,  improve upon existing USCIS reporting and ensure that both USCIS and GAO are publishing these reports to their public websites.

IIUSA will monitor this bill and provide updates as they become available. Questions can be directed to advocacy@iiusa.org.
