From August 30-31, leaders of the EB-5 industry convened in Milwaukee, WI for the first-ever IIUSA EB-5 Leadership Summit. The event brought together representatives from thirty of the leading regional centers, law firms, financial service providers, and migration agencies to discuss the recent reauthorization of the EB-5 Regional Center Program and the future of the industry.
The event kicked off with an address from the Mayor of Milwaukee, Cavalier Johnson, who extolled the tremendous benefits that the city has seen from EB-5 investment and the important role it will continue to play as the city looks to grow. The event was the first such gathering of industry stakeholders since USCIS reached a joint settlement agreement with industry stakeholders on two lawsuits related to the implementation of the Reform and Integrity Act. It offered the leading organizations of the industry an opportunity to celebrate (albeit briefly) and more importantly to discuss the significant opportunities presented to both IIUSA and the industry by the long-term reauthorization of the EB-5 Regional Center Program. Key topics discussed included:
- Implementation of the Reform and Integrity Act;
- Continued need for advocacy with Capitol Hill, USCIS, and beyond;
- Strategic partnership development and expansion;
- Membership expansion and diversification amongst stakeholders and beneficiaries of EB-5 investment;
- Data collection and sharing;
- Public relations;
- International expansion and event growth;
- and much more!
Coming out of the meeting, the association has a host of key initiatives it will pursue in the months and years ahead. We look forward to working with our Leadership Circle, broader membership, and partners domestically abroad to grow the EB-5 industry and ensure that its promise of economic revitalization and job creation is met.
Our next full industry gathering will take place in San Diego in May 2023 and we hope to see you there!
