Becoming a Member of the Association to Invest In the USA (IIUSA)
Thanks for your interest in becoming a member of the IIUSA. As a member, you can: join the IIUSA members-only listserv, a great resource for keeping up with what is going on in the EB-5 world; participate in monthly conference calls to discuss such issues as best practices, common problems, and how to self-police the EB-5 program so that it continues to grow responsibly; and use better lines of communication with the government. You also get access to a wealth of EB-5 information on the members-only section of the website. To further strengthen our message, we must further build our membership and expand its representation of the EB-5 community. For that reason we encourage everyone involved in the EB-5 program, including regional centers, attorneys, service providers, agents, and/or related entities, to join the IIUSA.
USCIS views the IIUSA as an important partner in developing best practices and assisting with the growth and oversight of the EB-5 immigrant investor program. We are recognized for our value and capacities as conduits for both investment and qualified EB-5 petitioners. With more members comes more recognition. We have accomplished a lot in our short existence:
- Legislative: Most recently, we secured a three year extension of the EB-5 regional center program through September 30, 2012. Our efforts are now focused on making substantive improvements to the program and making it permanent.
- Agency Liaison: After holding a stakeholders meeting with USCIS in September 2008, we have set up quarterly stakeholders meetings with the agency. This is a promising step in having better communication with the government about how the program is administered.
- Media Exposure: The EB-5 regional center program has been covered a lot by the media, with each publication improving the program’s profile. The program was featured in major national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. All publications can be found on the In the News section of the website.
- Program Development: We have established formal guidelines concerning “know your customer” and ethical issues. They are posted in the Best Practices section of the website. We will continue to explore, draft, and publish more guidelines to further the professional and business goals of the EB-5 community.
The following levels of membership dues are good for a 12 month period:
- Regional centers pay $3,000 per year.
- Individuals, such as attorneys, brokers, consultants, and others who provide EB-5 related services, pay $1,250 per year.
